You're right we're talking about a flipbook. Ours is based on this library: turn.js.
I just re-tried it, it works perfectly for me. All explanations are in the readme file:
Did you copy the template file in your directory theme ?
You won't see the flipbook or the images in the dashboard.The different pictures you insert in the gallery of the flipbook-post will be shown as a flipbook.
