I looked at this particular case when I was working on the issue above, and unfortunately it's something slightly different.
When you create a status with the name of 'כותבים משהו', the slug is represented as such:
%d7%9b%d7%95%d7%aa%d7%91%d7%99%d7%9d-%d7%9e
This is too long for the post_status column, and the value is stored incorrectly. I'll have to think on this to see if there's a different workaround we can employ.
